The residence soloists
Experience a orchestral dimension
The Residence Soloists, under direction of Primarius Karsten Gebhardt, have been delighting their audiences for over 20 years with highly virtuoso and lively classical masterpieces, performed at original locations. Great well-known symphonies, solo concerts and overtures from Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Tchaikovsky to Rossini and Gershwin can be heard in a magnificent ambience in the Munich Residence and the royal palaces.
Andrea Polgár has put over 70 masterpieces into special transcriptions, which develop an orchestral sound dimension among the residence soloists. The residence soloists are high qualified musicians from Munich's top orchestras and can look back on over 3,000 concerts.
Throughout the year, the residence soloists play over 150 concerts: in the Cuvilliés-Theater where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart premiered his opera Idomeneo and Napoleon attended as part of the incrowning ceremony as bavarian kings in 1806 from the royal box to a performance of Don Giovanni. In the Hercules Hall, the famous throne room, the restored All Saints Court Church, which originally had a role model of San Marco in Venice. In the Max Joseph Hall with its magnificent chandeliers and fantastic acoustics, in the historic old court chapel in which Mozart performed his early piano concertos and masses and in Nymphenburg Palace where the 7-year-old Mozart and his sister Nannerl performed before Elector Maximilian III . concerts with great success.
