Master concert
"Haydn is the darling of our nation, whose gentle character is evident in each of his pieces. His writing has beauty, order, and purity, a refined and noble simplicity that is felt even before the listeners are prepared." Joseph Haydn, the most famous composer of the late 18th century, wrote the Violin Concerto in C major in 1765 for the exceptional young violinist Luigi Tomassini. The concerto shines with virtuoso passages reminiscent of Vivaldi or Tartini and particularly highlights the soloist's talent. Haydn, who developed a fatherly friendship with the young Mozart over the course of the years, was an inspiration and great role model for Mozart throughout his life. With the "Prague Symphony," the Residence Soloists perform a work that, along with the opera "Don Giovanni," became one of Mozart's favorite works.
